Director of Information & Technology – Middleton, WI
This position manages two key areas: internal IT including ERP systems, infrastructure, security and IT support and external IT including software development and application management. This role will provide strategic direction, leadership and oversight to ensure that technology aligns with business objectives, optimizes operational efficiency and supports innovation.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement IT policies and best practices.
- Work with team members to develop formalized project management processes to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of projects.
- Work with team members and stakeholders to develop and deploy technology projects.
- Monitor and analyze technology and trends that could improve the company’s processes and performance.
- Ensure data remains secure by keeping up to date on the latest cybersecurity threats and ways to prevent them.
- Manage the IT budget.
- Ensure consistent and efficient operation of the company’s IT infrastructure.
- Plan and implement modifications to the existing IT infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and negotiate contracts for services.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the IT staff, fostering professional development and a customer-focused culture.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in information technology, computer science or related field. At least 7 years of experience in information & technology is required along with supervisory experience.
Other qualifications include:
- Strong understanding of the process of software design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
- Ability to provide leadership to the development team ensuring best practices in Agile and DevOps methodologies; overseeing product development lifecycle, software architecture and integration strategies.
- Familiarity with web and console application development including Angular 5+, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, C# using .NET Core, SQL Server, Visual Studio, REST-based APIs both backend development and interfacing with frontend using .NET Core.
- Experience managing ERP systems (experience with Epicor Prophet 21 a plus).
- Ability to balance long-term strategy with short-term execution.
- Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, network systems, server management, databases and cybersecurity practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, SQL, Office365, Azure).
- Knowledge of business continuity, disaster recovery and IT governance.
- Strong project management skills to oversee projects from conception to execution, on time and within budget.
- Strong decision making, problem solving and collaboration skills.
