RESCO (Rural Electric Supply) was incorporated in 1936 in the state of Wisconsin under the name WRECA. Its original purpose was to furnish technical and management services to rural electric utilities located in Wisconsin. In 1972, the name was changed to RESCO and its mission changed to providing its electric utility customers with dependable service and an assured source of competitively priced quality materials on a timely basis.

In 2002, RESCO celebrated sixty-six years of service excellence in its eight state area. Today RESCO is one of the largestPhoto of Utility Repair full-line stocking distributors of high voltage electrical products in the Midwest. Representing over 200 manufacturers, RESCO carries an extensive inventory of materials used in the construction, operation, and maintenance of transmission and distribution systems. Products like transformers ( pole and pad ), overhead conductor and hardware, fusing, arresters, connectors, lighting, URD cables, terminators, elbows, switchgear, reclosers, structures, preformed products, tools, wood products, conduit, supplies, etc. are sold. RESCO's trade area includes Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Nebraska, and Northern Illinois. This trade area is served with four fully stocked warehouses totaling nearly 100,000 square feet plus 12,000 square feet of outside storage, centrally located in Middleton, Wisconsin; Ankeny, Iowa; Moorhead, Minnesota; and Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

Having a technically trained and product knowledgeable outside and inside sales staff, RESCO works closely with each customer in order to provide solutions to their application / construction questions and problems, as well as suggestions for improved operations. Each customer is assigned a specific field representative and a specific customer service representative so that their needs can be handled on a personal and efficient basis. RESCO's field representatives are strategically located throughout its trade area allowing them to call on each customer on a frequent and consistent basis.

On going vendor evaluation programs initiated by a number of customers, consistently rates RESCO as being superior in providing service, delivery, quality and pricing. The total ownership costs of material for customers are significantly reduced by purchasing from a full service stocking distributor.

In order to keep customers abreast of the constantly changing utility industry, RESCO publishes a quarterly newsletter ( RESCO Lines ). The newsletter contains helpful product application tips, illustrations and descriptions of new products, lead-times and price increase information. A 370-page catalog, listing all material stocked at RESCO's warehouses as well as technical information on direct shipped equipment and materials, has been published and is updated regularly. Periodic product and application seminars conducted for customers are considered an integral part of RESCO's customer focus.

Employing the latest purchasing strategies, RESCO partners only with reliable manufacturers that can provide quality material at a competitive price and can deliver on time. Annual goal setting and periodic customer sales calls with vendors assures a close working relationship with priority manufacturers. Sophisticated computer material forecasting and inventory control programs provide for adequate inventory on hand at all times. Computer tracking of customer orders guarantees on time shipment. In fact, RESCO strives for next day shipment to the customer if stock material is ordered.

An emergency shipment program designed to assist customers following a storm damage situation has been instituted. RESCO has 24-hour on-call shipping agreements in place for all four warehouses, in addition to the availability of RESCO inside sales personnel at anytime. Charter membership in EUDA (Electric Utility Distributor's Association) allows access to over $25 million of inventory. Specially reserved storm stock at RESCO's primary suppliers material for use during storm emergencies.

In order to respond to changing technology and market conditions, RESCO employs EDI (electronic data interface) to communicate with compatible vendors and customers. This has reduced paperwork and increased order turn around time.
